Mention American Planning Association Annual Conference

------------------------------------------

Sponsor the conference!

For over 50 years the American Planning Association - Wisconsin Chapter (APA-WI) has hosted annual conferences and workshops on planning and related issues. This year we’re very excited to be in back in Madison at the Madison Concourse Hotel on September 12 and 13, 2024. I invite you to join us and to sign on as a sponsor. Your support is so important and helps to make the conference memorable.

This year’s conference theme is Forward! Evolving our approach to economic development, equity, and resilience. Join colleagues and experts in allied fields as we learn and explore unique approaches to national issues with local impact.

We’re excited to have Angela Brooks, FAICP, the APA National board president, as our opening keynote. She is the director of the Illinois office of the Corporation for Supportive Housing. She currently serves on the Chicago Board of Zoning Appeals and the Illinois Affordable Housing Advisory Commission. Angela is also co-chair of the national Housing Supply Accelerator, which helps communities meet the housing needs of residents. The Friday keynote is Annette Miller, Founder and CEO at EQT by Design. Annette launched EQT By Design to focus on developing diverse, inclusive, sustainable strategies in public engagement, equitable community development projects, and organizational cultural change management.

Break-out tracks include Housing Solutions, Mobility, Upskilling the Profession, Climate & Resilience, and Economic Development. We’ll be examining these topics and others through the lens of equity, diversity, and justice.

We’re also excited to offer bus, bike, and walking tours. These include a walking tour to the Triangle neighborhood to look at the Bayview Foundation’s affordable housing revitalization and redevelopment, a bus tour of the new BRT system with a behind the scenes look, an arts and culture walking tour, a bus tour to South Madison to visit the new Park-Cedar mixed-use project, the Urban League of Greater Madison’s Black Business Hub, and Centro Hispano’s new Calli building, and bike tours featuring Madison’s Platinum level bike infrastructure.
