2020 Chapter Elections

Each year, The Wisconsin Chapter of the American Planning Association holds elections to fill roles on our Board of Directors.  The Board is responsible for overseeing and carrying out the functions of our Chapter.  APA-WI exists to promote a strong planning practice across Wisconsin, and the Board is the beating heart of our organization.

 This year there are three roles up for election. 

  • Secretary (responsible for documenting Board meetings and managing Chapter records)
  • Northwestern District Representative (responsible for representing and promoting the interests of planners in the northwest quadrant of the state)
  • Vice President for Professional Development (responsible for helping members seek and maintain membership in AICP)

 Each of these is a voting member of the APA-WI Board and is expected to attend five Board meetings each year, including four quarterly meetings (~3 hours, typically in Madison and/or via videoconference), and 1 annual goal-setting meeting (~6 hours, typically in Milwaukee). Nominations require confirmation of eligibility* and a brief Candidate Statement.  See this Nomination Form to nominate yourself.  If you know someone that you think may be willing to serve, please encourage them – many of us needed a nudge like that to step forward.

The Nomination Form will remain available through the month of May 2020.  Eligible candidates will be placed on the ballot and the election will occur in July 2020.

December 2019: A message from President Jason Valerius: I am deeply thankful to all of the candidates for offering their energy in service to the Wisconsin planning profession.  When I transition into the Past President role in January (Josh Clements, our current President Elect, will become President), I will be responsible for elections and looking for people for the 2020 elections.  The roles on the ballot next summer will include Secretary and the Northwest District Representative.
