Hope Street in Milwaukee is located on 26th & Capitol, in an economically distressed and segregated part of the city They offer housing, programs and protection from toxic situations to people looking for a second chance. 


This lecture will describe their work and focus on their public participation and planning process to arrive at their proposed three-story, 21,000-square foot community center that will have a variety of uses including event space, gymnasium, greenhouse, cafe and classrooms for the surrounding area. This lecture will discuss planning and community development from a non-profit perspective and the advantages and challenges.
