Overview

Please join us for the next Innovative Cities Lecture on Wednesday, October 24th from 12 - 1:15pm, held at the School of Architecture and Urban Planning, room 345 (2131 E Hartford Ave, Milwaukee, WI 53211).

This is a free opportunity for planners, students, staff, faculty, and friends of the University -- all are welcome.

Come hear "A Rapid Pace for Chicago's Suburbs," with Charlotte Obodzinski, Program Supervisor of Pace Rapid Transit. Learn how Pace, suburban Chicago's public transportation agency, is integrating bus into suburban land use and possible applications in Milwaukee County.

Charlotte Obodzinski is the Supervisor of Pace’s Rapid Transit Program. She started at the agency in 2008 after earning her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Urban Planning from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Her first 6 years at Pace were spent as a service planner responsible for the planning and modification of bus routes covering northern Cook and Kane Counties. In 2014, she assumed the role of Rapid Transit Program Manager where she oversaw the planning of rapid transit services on major arterials and highways throughout Pace’s 6-county region as well as their associated infrastructure. In 2017, she was promoted to supervisor of this program overseeing the associated planning and engineering work.

Her current projects include a partnership with the Illinois Tollway to develop an express bus network with support facilities along the I-90 and future corridors as well as the development and implementation of Pulse services along Milwaukee Ave, Dempster St. and 22 future corridors in Chicagoland.

In addition to her duties at Pace, Charlotte served on the Transport Chicago steering committee from 2008-2015. She currently serves on the Illinois APA steering committee, Arlington Heights Bike and Pedestrian Commission and is a member of the Women in Transportation Seminar and the American Institute of Certified Planners.

A pizza lunch will be provided. An RSVP to sbaile@uwm.edu is kindly requested, but not required.
